Wang Tea started off in Fujian Anxi, China, the hometown of Tei Kuan Yin Tea. Our great grandfather, Wang Jin Hui, made it a point to base the business on moral conscientiousness, and fair dealing, aiming to make the finest teas affordable. In 1890, the Wang You-Ji Tea Company was founded in Xiamen.

1907 marked our entrance to Taiwan. At 17, our grandfather, Wang Xiojin, set up a refinery factory at the bustling tea trading town of Dadao Cheng. Taiwan produced a unique Northern Puchong tea, which Xio jin had to foresight to refine and export.

The tea business was flourishing, and the 3rd generation Wang Qin Jun came over to Taiwan to assist with production matters, namely tea selection and refining. Business matters also had to be attended to, while Xiojin moved to Thailand to oversee business development in South East Asia.

The 1970’s saw Taiwan’s economic boom, and brought about cultural movements of tea appreciation, and tea refining. Our teas received critical acclaim from our customers, leading to a surge in consumption. Fourth generation siblings set up another outlet at Jinan Road in 1975. To keep up with the demand, yet another outlet was opened in Chang Chun Road.

The next 40 years saw a gradual gentrification of the area, and our outlets gradually took on a more educational role. Categories of tea, preserved documents and tools, in addition to tours of the factory and refining factory allow our guests to understand tea production, as well as a glimpse into what life was like almost a century ago.

We still hold on to our traditions and history, while being relevant to the changing demands of the day. Sharing the most exquisite teas with the world.
